Visit Combe Martin Museum—a family-friendly, accessible North Devon heritage hub and Tourist Information Point. 

Explore three floors of archaeological finds, period artifacts, historic photographs, and rotating special exhibits highlighting niche aspects of Combe Martin's heritage and culture.

Showcasing a large collection of Combe Martin's social,  industrial and horticultural history. Maritime heritage, six centuries of silver-lead mining, and local Geology displays.

Museum Shop with souvenirs and books. Tourism leaflets and information on local amenities, attractions, accommodation and local events.

We provide maps, bus timetables, walking routes, and South West Coast Path resources.

Activities for accompanied children; colouring books, Dinosaur Hunt and games. 

We feature permanent and temporary exhibitions from our extensive Combe Martin heritage collection.

This museum is also a South West Coast Path Stamp Station.

Is Combe Martin Museum Easy to Access for All Visitors?

Yes - we treat Accessibility as a high priority. Our museum is fully wheelchair and disability accessible.

Bright, well-lit spaces with clear displays and signage ensure an inclusive and welcoming experience for all visitors. A passenger lift, operated by trained stewards, provides access to all floors.

Public parking and WC facilities are available on the Kiln Car Park, directly behind Combe Martin Museum.

We also provide a Talking Pen and Makaton signage to assist visitors.

What is Combe Martin's Hunting of The Earl of Rone?

First recorded in 1837 and revived in 1970, Combe Martin’s annual Hunting of the Earl of Rone festival is one of Devon's most historic and distinctive folk customs.

The 2026 Hunting is scheduled for May 22nd to May 25th.

Combe Martin Museum & Information Point includes an exhibition of The Earl of Rone costumes, photographs and a colour video of this famous folk custom.

The widely publicised four‑day May Bank Holiday celebration brings together pageantry, folklore, and community spirit, drawing visitors and journalists.

Nowadays, the EoR festival supports local tourism, strengthens village identity, and preserves centuries of cultural heritage.

Find Combe Martin Museum and Information Point on Cross Street, Combe Martin near Ilfracombe, EX34 0DH. We are close to the Seaside, Kiln Car Park and the main beach.

In a beautiful setting on the western edge of scenic Exmoor National Park, the museum is backed by the towering Hangman sea cliffs.

Combe Martin Museum Coffee Mornings?

Combe Martin Museum’s coffee mornings are a popular fortnightly social hub held on Tuesdays from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm in the museum’s Sail Loft. Check our Events page. For a small entry fee of £2.50, visitors can enjoy coffee and cake, participate in a raffle, and meet with friends both old and new. A significant perk of the event is that the cost also includes free admission to the museum exhibits, making it an accessible and welcoming way for the public to explore local history while supporting the museum's fundraising efforts.

Does the Museum have a Gift Shop?

Yes, we do have a Museum Shop with keepsakes, local crafts and mementoes unique to Combe Martin. You're welcome to browse our shop free of charge. 

We have a large selection of maps and books to purchase, as well as photographs and local artists' work. 

There is a small admission fee for the museum, but entry is free for children accompanied by an adult.

Visitor WC facilities, with step-free access, are located at Kiln Car Park directly behind the museum. 

South West Coast Path Stamp Station

Walkers can get their South West Coast Passport stamped at Combe Martin Museum. All SWCP stamping points are Way Makers - supporters of the South West Coast Path Association.

Does the Museum Have a Copy Shop?

Yes — our Information Point includes a small copy shop. We offer A3 and A4 printing, photocopying, and laminating, all available during museum opening hours.

There is a small charge for this service.

  • Look out for Seashore Safaris through the summer holidays.
  • Accompanied children are admitted free of charge, and they have access to games, colouring stations and quizzes.

Seashore Safaris at Combe Martin Museum

Part of the Combe Martin Museum Summer Programme

Call +44 (0)1271-889031 for details. Our summertime seashore safaris are open to all adults and children, and generally last around 1.5—2 hours. 

Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult AT ALL TIMES. Sensible footwear must be worn, suitable for paddling and scrambling over rocks.

Meet at the museum where you will be provided with all that you need. Shore guides are available to buy in the museum shop.
